Our History
Barrie Honda has served Barrie and the surrounding area for over 30 years since 1968 and you can be sure we'll be here to serve you for the next 30 years too!

• 1968 - Kerv Johnston opened up his first car dealership. On Gowan Street he opened up selling new Volkswagens and used cars. Barrie was a lot smaller in those days and so was our first dealership. We had a one-car showroom and could display 20 New and Used cars on our lot.
  
  
• 1975 - In 1975 Kerv Johnston took on the Honda automobile franchise. That same year, Kerv's son Greg Johnston joined the company. In 1977, seeing that the future would bode well with Honda, he decided to concentrate on Honda sales and service. The coming years were good for both Barrie Honda and the City of Barrie. The city grew and so did Barrie Honda.
  
  
• 1984 - With the rapid growth of the Canadian economy in the early 80's, the City of Barrie also experienced substantial growth. By 1984 Barrie Honda had outgrown its Gowan Street location and relocated to 100 Bradford Street. This was a much larger building that had once been home to a domestic car franchise. The new larger facility enabled Barrie Honda to better service its customers.
  
  
• 1986 - In 1986 Barrie Honda opened a Collision Centre. Over the years Honda had become a household name. With an ever-expanding model line, more and more people were driving Honda automobiles.
  
  
• 1994 - In the early 90's it became apparent to Kerv and Greg that the Bradford Street location was becoming too small. It was time to move again. Kerv and Greg decide to purchase property on Mapleview Drive (known to most as Molson Park Drive). This was a bold move at the time as Molson Park Drive was relatively uninhabited. In 1994, construction of the new Barrie Honda began! At the same time everyone else seemed to be building. Over night Molson Park Drive was transformed from a quiet intersection to a major shopping destination.
  
  
• 1998 - Barrie Honda acquired the property next door to our New Car showroom. Here we opened our Used Car Centre. We paved the lot, installed lights and set up a sales trailer.
  
  
• 1999 - One year later we built our existing Used Car Showroom and Service Centre.
  
  
• 2001 - We expanded our Used Car Centre and built a new state of the art Collision Centre. In the following months we doubled the size of our Service Centre and built a drive through car wash.
  
  
• 2002 - In the summer we began our latest expansion. The front wall was removed and a brand new 10 car showroom was built. Our customers can now shop inside in comfort. At the same time, we updated to the new Honda image. As Barrie grows, so does Barrie Honda!
  
  
• Present - Today Kerv's son, Greg Johnston, runs Barrie Honda. Greg carries on the family tradition of ensuring customer satisfaction. With a new state of the art Collision Centre, separate Used Car Centre, and large Service Centre, Barrie Honda has the facilities and people to look after your driving needs.
